Memorial Day Weekend!

Our family had a wonderful long weekend and Blake and I are both so sad to see it come to an end. Saturday, Caroline and I ran errands and then my parents came over to babysit while I went out with the girls for Audrey's bachlorette party! We ate at a restaurant in Buckhead and then went to see Sex & the City 2. It was such a fun night and we had a blast! I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures from the night but trust me...it was fun! It's the latest I've stayed out in years!

Sunday, we did our usual routine of going to my parents house for the day.

Blake and my dad cooked hamburgers and hot dogs while Caroline supervised them!

We pushed and pushed Caroline around in her car.

And after dinner, Caroline and Kendall shared a snack of oreo cookies!

Today, Blake and I both had the day off..which is unusal! We were so hoping to go to the pool this morning but it was rainy. So, we had the urge to get out of the house so we packed up and went to lunch together and then went to the outlet malls. While shopping at the mall, the sun came out and we saw blue skies for the first time all day. We rushed home to try to make it to the pool before the next rain storm and low and behold, right as we got to the pool they shut it down b/c of thunder. So we waited and waited and finally gave up and came home. The minute we got home the sun came back out so we tried again...and again. Third time was a charm and we FINALLY made it to the pool! Caroline was scared at first but quickly warmed up to swimming in the pool! She really enjoyed swimming and splashing in the water. Hopefully we can make it to the pool at least once each week this summer!

Dare Devil and Girls night!

Have I mentioned that lately Caroline is into EVERYTHING? She goes full force and isnt' scared of anything. Her daycare teacher told me that she's constantly climbing the table in the room and dancing on top of it. Oh my! Here's her newest trick.

About 1 sec after taking the picture she of course fell off. I explained to her that was why mommy said to sit on it instead of stand on it. She got up, walked over to the car and spanked it and fussed at it and then came back to me for me to hold her. It was so funny....almost like she thought it was the cars fault!

Tonight, Caroline and I had a girls night out with my mom and her sisters and my cousin. We love getting together with them and need to do it more often than we do.

We ate at Longhorns and they had a cow in the front of the restaurant. Caroline was very into it so we put her on it to get her picture! She thought she was something riding the cow!

I have a wonderful husband because not only was he cool about me having a girls night tonight but he's also letting me out of the house on Saturday night to go to dinner and to see Sex in the City 2 with some friends. It's actually a bachlorette party for my college roommate and I can't wait!

16 Months

Our sweet baby is now 16 months (as of yesterday)! I can't believe how quickly she is growing and changing.

Some of the things she's doing these days:

Wears 12-18 month clothes, size 3 shoes, and size 4 diapers

Is a WONDERFUL sleeper. We've been more than blessed with a good sleeping baby. At home she'll take 2 naps..usually one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These naps are no less than 2 hours a piece if not longer. She sleeps all night too. She hardly ever cries and even when she wakes up in the mornings or at naps she'll just lay in her bed talking until we come and get her. I hope this continues for many months to come!

She has 7 teeth but is working on a mouth full right now. She's got some that will come through the gums this week.

Is still shy at first around people but after about 10 min she will open up to them.

Loves, loves her paci and her blanket. Always has to have them close by.

She is getting to the point where she tries to repeat everything you say so we hear new words from her everyday. Here's some new words that I can think of: hot, Kendall, she can make her animal noises (cow, kitty, snake, etc), nite nite, thank you, ma-maw (for grandma), eye, nose.

She loves music and will dance her little heart out. It's the cutest thing. She also likes to be sang to.

She's in LOVE with her daddy and will stand at the top of the stairs and scream "da-da" for him to come and get her.

And, as her shirt states, she is the "Queen of the Jungle" around here!!

What we've been up to!

Baby proofing the house = breaking down our coffee table and our console table and letting Caroline's toys take over our house!

Going to a bridal shower for my college roommate Audrey...

Cooking pound cake with grandma and Kendall

Caroline getting her stitches out...

All was well until we came home. I was cooking dinner and then heard a burst of crying and ran to see what happened and noticed that she was bleeding. Her wound had re-opened itself. We weren't even home for 20 minutes from getting stitches out before we've got another accident happening. Really?? Can we ever get a break???!!! So, I called my mom (the nurse of the family) and we both decided that they probably wouldn't do stitches again so the best thing would be to just put neosporin on it and a bandaid. So looks like Caroline will be walking around with a bandaid on for another week or so. I just hope it doesn't get infected now that it's re-opened itself. I'm still not sure what she did but it's possible that she ran into our end table beside our sofa. Or she could have fallen on a toy and just it her head just right that it re-opened it. Either way...it looks like we have an accident prone child!!!!

Wednesday night

Wednesday night was a rough one in the Owen Household. I picked Caroline up from daycare, got home and was making dinner. While I was making the spagetti I noticed that it had italin sausage in it. I had accidently bought the wrong sauce. But I thought, oh well we'll eat it anyway.

As Caroline is eating I start noticing these red hives on her face. Then I looked down and they are on her hand and in between her fingers. She had the same breakout when she ate peanut butter about a month ago so I knew she was having an allergic reaction. Since she had spagetti all over her, I took her upstairs to get a bath. About 20 minutes after having a bath, the hives went away. So problem solved!!!

Then dad comes home and Caroline was showing him her elephant hat that she made at daycare. They were having fun together walking around acting like elephants.

Then the hat slipped over her head and all I heard was a huge bang and then screaming. Blake picked her up and she had blood all over her face. We immediately wiped it up and noticed that she had a huge cut on her eyebrow and that it would need stitches. So we both take turns holding pressure on Caroline's head while the other runs through the house like crazy trying to find shoes, keys, sippy cup, diapers, paci...you get my gist! We go to the ER and they confirm that yes she will need stitches. They put some numbing cream on it for 30 minutes and then took us back to do the stitches.

This is the part that I suck at. I HATE blood or anything to do with it. I get so nauseated and even wanted to puke when I first saw the cut. So, I immediately told Blake (who also hates needles) that he was going to have to be the strong one here and comfort Caroline. I stood in the back at her feet and didn't look the entire time. She screamed the entire time while Blake sang songs to her and comforted her. She ended up with 5 stitches. I'm hoping that it won't scare but the dr said that it more than likely will. She fell asleep on the way home and slept solid all night. She had had a rough night with her parents and was exhausted! This is how she fell asleep and how she woke up this morning.

She normally moves all over the bed but last night she stayed in one spot. She stayed home with daddy today to recover! We have to take her back on Monday to get the stitches out. It will just be me taking her so I hope I don't pass out! ha,ha

Mother's Day 2010

I just want to thank my mom for ALL that she does for me and my family. Without her our family just wouldn't be the same! She has an amazing heart and I hope that I am half the wife/mother that she has been to all of us.

I would also like to thank Susan, Blake's mom, for all that she has done for us as well. There have been many nights when we called her to keep Caroline for us the next day and she is always there with a lending hand to help out.

And lastly, I am so grateful that God put this sweet beauiful daughter in my life. When I found out I was pregnant, I secretly wanted the baby to be a girl! I was thrilled when the sonographer said "It's a Girl"! I wanted to scream out loud I was so excited! (Actually, my mom pretty much did scream. She was so excited to and started calling everyone as soon as we found out! I had to ask her to be quiet since we were still in the dr's office! ha-gotta love those fun memories!) From the moment I felt Caroline move in my belly I knew I had a special love for this little girl! I'm so lucky to be her mom and had such a fun time celebrating Mother's Day with her.

Here's some other pictures from our fun day. We spent the day in Cleveland at my parents house. Mom fixed a yummy dinner (yet again!) with all of our favorites. Caroline LOVED the sweet potatoes and had them all over her!

My niece came over early to play with Caroline and those two played and played all day. Caroline even started saying "Ten-dall" by the end of the day! Kendall was so excited that she could say her name. I love watching the two of them play. Kendall is so gentle with Caroline and Caroline LOVES Kendall and just follows her around like a duck! Funny story: my mom and Kendall went to Wal-Mart while Caroline took a quick nap. Well my mom bought Kendall and Maddox these cool cups. She didn't get one for Caroline because neither one of us thought she could suck out of a straw since I haven't even tried that yet. Well, Caroline got so upset when Kendall was drinking out of her cool cup and she kept throwing her sippy cup down and begging for Maddox's cup. Since Maddox wasn't over to the house yet, my mom thought she would try and see if Caroline could sip out of it and low and behold she could. She figured it out right away! It was so funny. She was sooo proud of her cool cup and that she could be just like Kendall.
