Brushing teeth!

Caroline brushed her "3" teeth last night for the first time. We bought her the tooth brush at Christmas but kept forgetting to actually brush her teeth so we got it out last night. She LOVED it! She mainly just sucked on it and rubbed it on her gums. I hope she will continue to like brushing her teeth as she gets older!

PJ day!

I stayed home with Caroline today and we've had a fun day just laying around in our PJ's. I have had little to no movtivation to do anything today...not sure why but that's the way it's been! Caroline is still feeling pretty rough so she's just been laying around too. The inhaler seems to be helping her a little with the wheezing. She HATES using it though and I can't say that I blame her! I'm hoping that she will get better as the week goes on. She still is not interested in eating solids. The last time she had a good meal (as far as solids go) was Saturday. But she is still drinking her bottles so that's good...she's staying hydrated! Here are some pictures that I took of her this afternoon. She finally decided that she wanted play with her toys for a few minutes.

I think she's chewing so much on that toy because her 2 top teeth are cutting through her gums. Poor thing that she's got to deal with teething on top of RSV. But she's being a good sport about it all!

RSV

I got a call from the daycare today while at work that Caroline was running a fever and was just very sick. So when I picked her up she seemed to be feeling awlful and was wheezing. I happened to hear one of the dad's say that his son just got over RSV so I immediately started thinking that maybe just maybe that is what is wrong with Caroline. So, I packed her in the car and off we went to the Children's Immediate Care center and much to my instinct, I was right. She tested positive for RSV. She's so pitiful. I'm beginning to think my child will never be well again. We thought after doing the ear tubes that we would be free (at least for a week!) of illness for awhile but it wasn't even a week before she's caught something else. Please pray for her and that she will have a speedy recovery and that she won't need to be hospitalized. They said this can last up to a month. They put her on an inhaler to hope that helps the cough and wheezing. Our family (especially Caroline) could use a break from sickness!

Mail time

I don't know what it is but I love going to the mailbox everyday to get the mail. Most of the time it's just boring stuff like bills but I get really excited when I get something different and fun! When we get home I will walk to the mailbox with Caroline and then we come in the house, put our stuff down and go through the mail. Lately she's been such a mama's girl and won't let me put her down so I've been sitting on the floor or sofa with her and I will give her the junk mail or empty envelopes to play with while I sort through the mail. She loves it and thinks she's really got something! Here she is tonight playing with the junk pile of mail. (ignore the awlful rash on her face...with all of the paci sucking and dry weather her mouth looks rough)

Caroline is still a little sick. I honestly can't tell if it's just teething or if she is getting something else. On Friday, she wouldn't eat and threw up twice. Saturday morning she woke up with a fever and a horrible cough so I took her to the dr and they said it was a cold and to start using her ear drops b/c her ears were starting to drain. Great another ear infection:( The fever was gone by Sunday but she still had a horrible cough, runny nose, and wasn't herself. Today we sent her to daycare since we both had to work and when I picked her up they said she had an upset tummy all day, still coughing, still runny nose, and she is starting to wheeze. I looked tonight and her top tooth is breaking through the gums. To all of the moms out there, did your kiddos go through all of these symptoms when cutting teeth? She kind of did this with the bottom two...if this is just teething then she's a dramatic teether and I can't imagine going through this until her mouth is full of teeth!!! Hopefully she'll start to feel better soon. I hate that she's had such a rough 4 months.

Going for a jog

Blake loves running (when he has time!) so his co-worker let him borrow his jogging stroller since we don't have one. We bundled up Caroline with several layers and off they went. She seemed to really enjoy it and I got a few minutes of "me" time without anyone else in the house!!!

Birthday outfit!!!

Isn't this the cutest little outfit??? I have been day dreaming about Caroline's 1 year birthday party for awhile now and this outfit is just what I had invisioned. I have to take advantage of having a girl and get her a tutu....right???!!! When I took it out of the box Caroline started squealing and was so happy! I tried it on her and it is perfect! She loves it and I love it...and daddy even said it was cute!!!

I had Tara Rowell make it...you can view her blog here. She does an awesome job and I can't wait to get more monogrammed items from her! Thank you Tara...we love it!!!

Looking back on 2009

Well it's New Year's Eve...this year has just flown by. It's been quite a year for the Owen family. We experienced many struggles and hardships this year but through it all, it has made us and our family stronger. The biggest and best thing that happened to us this year was Caroline being born. We have enjoyed having her in our lives and I don't know what life would be like without her. She is such a blessing to us and we cherish each moment God allows us with her.

Some of the hardships that we faced this year are: my Grandmother passing away, me losing my job (with a 3month old at home to raise), Blake having a bicycle accident and having to have emergency surgery, Caroline being sick for 4 months straight (hands, foot, mouth; 7 double ear infections; stomach virus, you name it she has had it!), then mommy and daddy being sick from taking care of Caroline.

Some of the good things that happened to us this year are: of course having Caroline, being able to have wonderful friends and family members that supported me through the good and bad times, Blake got new glasses due to his accident, I got a new job with Sibley Heart Center, we had wonderful family members support us financially and emotionally through all of the hard times, Blake and I started going to Browns Bridge Church, I still have a car to drive and a roof over my head...I learned that the other materialistic things just DON'T matter. I am happy with what God has provided for me and couldn't ask for more!

We are so extremely blessed to have such wonderful family members who eagerly have helped us with finances, babysitting, getting us through all of our "sick" moments, etc. I truly don't know what our lives would be like without ya'll. And we also have wonderful friends who have prayed and helped us out throughout this year and we are so thankful for all they have done.

Here are some pics to look back on our year...

We hope you all have a Happy New Year and that 2010 brings you everything you are looking for and more!!!
